It is Week 3 of the high school football season, it’s suffocatingly hot outside and only three Delaware County teams own 2-0 records – and all reside in the Central League.

Strath Haven passed a big test at Springfield and has Ridley home Friday night in the game of the week. Penncrest is playing very well under head coach Paul Graham, dismantling Sun Valley (34-19) and Chichester (48-28) en route to the program’s first 2-0 start since 2013. Garnet Valley awaits.

Marple Newtown put a licking on Radnor and some Philly Public League Team without breaking a sweat. The Tigers now enter a stretch in their schedule as they face Upper Darby (0-2), Springfield (1-1) and Ridley (0-1).

How will your favorite team fare this weekend? After going a paltry 5-6 last week, here are my picks for Week 3. All games Friday are 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Ridley at Strath Haven >> The Green Raiders led Garnet Valley by two touchdowns, at home, late in the second quarter…and then things fell apart. Connor Kelly made a few nice plays at linebacker and quarterback Ryan Carroll passed for 237 yards and three scores in Ridley’s 42-28 setback.

Marco Kaufman’s 29-yard touchdown run was the difference in the Panthers’ 19-15 victory over Springfield.

Prediction: Strath Haven 24-20
