There was a big high school sports story this month that stood out like a sore thumb thanks to questionable decision-making by adults in power.
It was after dinnertime on Dec. 13 when word started getting out that Upper Darby football coach Rich Gentile was being relieved of his duties… eventually. I received an email, which was forwarded to me, titled “Upper Darby High School Football Message.”
In the email, originally sent to families within the Upper Darby School District, athletic director Frank Nunan informed recipients that Gentile would not return to his position following the 2019 season. The next morning, I received several texts, emails and tweets regarding this subject. Folks were angry and asking questions.
