In other District 1 Class A first-round games:
Upper Moreland at Strath Haven
The fourth-seeded Panthers (8-2) are looking to bounce back after one of their toughest offensive outings in years against Springfield. Expect a heavy dose of the ground game with Landon Barlow, Yosif Ali and Ryan Mudrick leading the charge. Linebacker Cole Haly has been a star on defense all season. The 13th-seeded Bears have weapons, most notably 6-4 receiver Larry Hughes and dual-threat quarterback David Adamski.
Marple Newtown at Chester
The 15th-seeded Tigers (5-5) will go as their playmakers go. Running back Brett Wolski has topped 1,000 yards on the ground, and quarterback Sean Grogan has made plays with his arm, legs, and in the trenches on defense. Jack Dean is Grogan’s go-to target in the passing game.
The second-seeded Clippers (10-0) have been an offensive juggernaut, averaging nearly 40 points a game on their way to a fourth straight Del Val League crown. Senior quarterback Jalen Harris has thrown for 1,533 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 14 more. He’s 176 yards shy of breaking the Delco career passing record of 7,588 set by Penn Wood’s Desman Johnson Jr. in 2019.
Kickoff is Saturday at 1 p.m.
