District playoffs prognostications – 10/16/25

As we approach the final two weekends of the regular season, Strath Haven and other high school football fans will be wondering what the final playoff schedule may look like.  With many games still to be played this weekend and next, lots can change in terms of the game results.  That being said, we’re taking our best guess as to where teams could land as the 5A District 1 playoffs begin on 10/31/25.

Please note that this is simply a prediction, and it could change drastically if there are unexpected results.  It is not meant to disparage or downplay any of the efforts of any teams– it’s simply our quick estimation, based on the PIAA’s Power Ranking System, of where teams may (or may not) be playing in the post-season.  Ultimately, this is just for fun.  We’re not worried about being “right” or “wrong” in the predictions, as the teams will play it out on the field.  “That’s why they play the games…”  😉

The explanation on rankings and how the points system works can be found here: https://www.piaad1.org/sports/fall-sports/football/power-ranking/

A few games for this week that will likely have significant impact on the rankings include:
  • Springfield at Garnet Valley: A win for Springfield likely clinches the #1 seed, and would keep them atop the Central League.  Garnet Valley needs to win at least one of their next two games to possibly have a first-round home game.
  • Penncrest at Ridley.  A win for Penncrest could give them a first-round home game and would hand Ridley their first Central League loss.
  • West Chester Rustin at West Chester East:  Rustin clears a path to a possible #3 seed with a win, while East could climb into the top four with an upset here.
  • Kennett at Avon Grove:  If Kennett wins out, they could land as a #4 seed, but could be tested by an Avon Grove squad that beat Unionville and played Oxford to the wire in the past two weeks.
  • Plymouth Whitemarsh at Upper Moreland :  If Upper Moreland can rebound from a tough overtime loss to Wissahickon last week, they could be on the edge of a top 8 seed and a first round home game.
  • Bensalem at Upper Dublin:  Upper Dublin is in “must win” mode to make the field of 16.
We will continue to update the projection each week, as we’re bound to have some surprises! Good luck to all, and we’re looking forward to a fun and exciting stretch run!
