The Del Val League has a plan in place for its football teams next spring.
As other leagues in the area reversed course on COVID-19 restrictions and returned to action, the Del Val stuck to its original decision, deeming it too unsafe to come back in the fall.
There was good news in October, as the league announced a fall sports partnership delay with other schools from around the state that opted out of the fall sports season due to the pandemic.
They’re calling it the United X League, which will debut in early March and run through the middle of April. The Del Val’s tentative plan is to have a winter sports season in January and February.
Of course, the league’s ideas are contingent on the progress of the pandemic and the damage it will cause over the next few months, and whether Del Val school districts decide to again delay in-school activities such as athletics. So far, the outlook is bleak, as COVID-19 cases continue to spike throughout Delaware County, according to statistics available on the Chester County Health Department’s website.
