The JV Panthers hosted the JV Interboro Buccaneers at George L King field on a beautiful cool August evening.
The JV defense put on a clinic in the first half holding Interboro to mostly 3–and–outs on nearly every play. The offensive line was winning the battle at the line of scrimmage the majority of the night.
The fans were treated to strong rushing performances by James Harper, John Prochniak and John Francis throughout the game. James Harper ran in the first touchdown but the Panthers missed the extra point. John Francis moved the ball effortlessly down the field scoring from 20 yards out allowing Arion Ford to catch the two point conversion in the end zone. The third touchdown was made from 1-yard line as John Prochniak pushed his way through to the end zone but Haven missed the extra point. This effort lead the Panthers into halftime with a 20-0 lead.
Interboro started off the second half receiving the kick-off but the Bucs went 3-and-out. The Panther defense put a stop to the drive at the Bucs 31 yard line.
The Panthers and Bucs went back and forth until the Bucs scored as the buzzer sounded in the third quarter. The Bucs were able to complete the two-point conversion and the score was Panthers 20, Bucs 8.
The fourth quarter proved frustrating for the Bucs as the Panther offense showed their grit by opening up lanes for good gains by Francis, Harper, and Gunn.
John Francis got his second touchdown of the game with an exciting run into the end zone. The Panthers were not able to complete the two point conversion.
Interboro took over with 5:58 left in the fourth quarter. Interboro would not relent and was finding success moving the ball down the field until McFetridge, Shehadi, and Sosi respectively ended their drive, forcing a punt. The Panthers took over and were able to secure a first down on their drive to run out the clock.
