Following on Twitter in awe as Archbishop Wood racked up one lightning-quick score after another in a 44-7 dispatching of Great Valley in the PIAA Class AAA quarterfinals Friday, it was easy to think of it as an outlier.
Wood is a tremendous program fed by a seemingly endless talent pipeline, so it should be no surprise that the game between the District One and 12 champs got lopsided. It’s an aberration. An anomaly.
Right? Nope.
In eight PIAA games across Classes A, AA and AAA Friday, the Wood game is remarkably competitive by comparison.
