It took Landon Barlow a few minutes Thursday night to rid himself of the bandages wrapped around both forearms and biceps.
There were about seven or eight in total, the Strath Haven running back with the bloody No. 3 jersey reckoned, the medical detritus strewn about the visiting sideline at Louis W. Scott Field. That’s the price of Barlow’s hard-churning style, expected enough that he didn’t bat an eyelid at the many times the gauze went on.
It took him no time, scrapes or not, to retrieve the Media Bowl trophy, delivering it physically to his huddle of teammates in the way he figuratively brought it home over the previous 48 minutes.

Barlow rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns, helping Strath Haven to a 42-0 win over Penncrest, the Panthers’ 15th straight Media Bowl victory.
Barlow scored on a 55-yard touchdown in the first quarter and TD runs of 10 and 16 yards in a third period in which the Panthers (1-1, 1-0 Central) turned the screws on Penncrest. Barlow, with his ability to bounce off tacklers, did much of the damage in Strath Haven’s 50 carries for 358 yards.
“I usually just run as hard as I can, and it comes with cuts,” Barlow said. “But it’s OK.”
