James King and Obadiah Asare stood in the weight room at Haverford High Wednesday afternoon waiting to give Kareem Bernard a lift to Hero Bowl practice at Widener University.
Any other time of the year this meeting would be unusual, and possibly a little dangerous.
You see, King and Asare attend Upper Darby High School, Haverford’s main Central League rival and its Thanksgiving nemasis in football for the last 96 years. Bernard goes to Haverford, so the scene was a bit odd and something that would not have happened during the regular season.
The Hero Bowl, though, can make for some strange bedfellows.
