Harriton High School cancelled their varsity football program this year out of concern over their small roster and fear of injuries when playing teams much larger and faster than the team they could put on the field. That decision was made after the first game of the season making it almost impossible for teams on the schedule to find a replacement team to play.
The PIAA made the decision that the games would simply be cancelled (as opposed to forfeiture) and that teams affected would simply have their qualifying playoff points divided by 9 games rather than the usual 10.
In the mean time that left a bye week for the October 16th game for the Haven varsity team which happened to coincide with Homecoming scheduled for that week.
The Strath Haven administration has decided to play the weekly JV game on Friday night in leu of the regular varsity game. Harriton is still maintaining a JV football program and they will be the opponent on Friday night.
Havenfootball.net will do our part by treating the Friday night JV game just like we would prepare for a varsity game. Our full broadcast will be produced live and on archive and we will produce a full team roster with all the usual pomp and circumstance.
These JV players are our future varsity players and we encourage all our fans to turn out in full force for this October 16th game!
