It was a perfect day for football as the Panthers looked to continue their JV dominance to the detriment of the Penncrest Lions.
The Panthers receiving the opening kick-off and marched down the field and scored as the Lions offered little resistance and the score was 6-0.
On Penncrest’s first drive it appeared they were not going to have an easy day on the field. The Panther defense played very stout O line and linebackers stopped the Lions in their tracks.
On the next Panther drive, again dominance up front, running and passing with ease as the Panthers scored again and completed a 2 point conversion making it 14-0.
On Penncrest’s 3rd drive in the first half they finally created some nice yardage mixing in some passes and quarterback runs, however, once inside the Panther 10 yard line the Lions were picked off in the end zone ending what would be their most promising drive of the day.
Late in the first half, with 29 seconds left, with Penncrest punting from deep in their own end, the Lions punter bobbled the snap allowing the Panther D to stifle the punter and get the ball on downs inside the 10. Three plays later the Panthers were in the end zone again with another 2 point conversion and the lead was 22-0 at the half.
The second half started and little was to change the rest of the way. Penncrest couldn’t get anything started on offense and the Panther defense dominated while the Panther offense asserted themselves on the ground and in the air scoring two more times in the 3rd quarter making it 36-0 and getting the mercy clock going.
This JV team is very exciting to watch. They play hard and tough and have a few very dynamic underclassman that are sure to be superstars at the varsity level in the coming years.”
The final was a dramatic 36-0 win for the Panthers.
