Jerry Roberts thought of one person in the fourth quarter when trailing one of the best teams in the state by 11 points.
Ian Malesiewski.
“We dedicated this season to Ian,” Roberts said of Malesiewski, who suffered a severe spinal cord injury in the offseason. “We kept saying, ‘What would Ian do if he had one more play? What would he do right now?’ That’s how we played the whole fourth quarter.”
Cathedral Prep used several character-defining defensive plays in the final 12 minutes to pull off an improbable rally and defeat Imhotep Charter 27-20 for the PIAA Class 4A football championship Thursday at Hersheypark Stadium.
The momentum shifted immediately as the fourth quarter began as college prospect Dominick Covatto fell on a fumble with Prep down 20-9.
