Strath Haven scored two first-half touchdowns and relied on its defense to earn a 14-10 victory over Penncrest in Thursday night’s Media Bowl.
Shane Green opened the scoring with a 67-yard touchdown run with 52 seconds left in the first quarter, giving the Panthers a 7-0 lead. The host Lions (1-1) responded with an 11-play, 59-yard drive in the second quarter, capped by a 28-yard field goal from James Mulholland with 6:34 remaining before halftime.
Green struck again three plays later, breaking free for a 74-yard touchdown, and extending the Strath Haven (2-0) lead to 14-3 with five minutes left in the half.
Early in the third quarter, Penncrest recovered a fumble deep in Strath Haven territory and quickly capitalized with a two-yard touchdown run by Albert Dada. That score would be the final points of the game.
