Strath Haven scored the go-ahead touchdown at the end of the third quarter, extended its lead in the fourth and sealed the deal Saturday as District 1 5A champions with a late interception in beating the Chester Clippers 28-20 at Chester.
Haven moves to 13-1 and advances to next week’s PIAA semifinal to take on Imhotep Charter, a 31-7 winner over Delaware Valley. They will meet the District 12 champ at a site to be determined.
Jake Kitchin had a hand in all four Haven touchdowns, and Haven’s offense controlled the clock.
Kitchin hit Sean Henry for a 4-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to go up for good at 21-20, then capped a 14-play, 86-yard drive with a 1-yard TD plunge on a third and goal.
Strath Haven ran 35 offensive plays in the second half to Chester’s 11.
