Strath Haven is fully committed to making another championship run this fall.

The Panthers, reigning District 1 Class 5A champions, bring back many key contributors from last year’s team, perhaps none more important than James Fisher, the 2023 Daily Times Player of the Year, who is entering his senior season.

The 5-11, 180-pound running back/defensive back ran for 1,347 yards and 18 touchdowns last fall. He supplemented his impressive rushing numbers with 499 yards and seven TDs as a receiver. As a strong safety, Fisher recorded 54 tackles, helping the Panthers to a 13-2 record, share of the Central League title and second District 1 championship in three seasons.

Like the rest of the team, Fisher isn’t resting on his laurels.

“I worked a lot with my trainer on running back drills and defensive drills, stuff like that,” Fisher said. “I just want to continue to get better.”
