Strath Haven’s offense has been on some kind of roll.
The Panthers topped the 40-point mark for the second straight week and the sixth time this season to celebrate senior night in style with a 42-6 victory over Lower Merion Friday night at George L. King Field.
Strath Haven has scored 119 points in its last three games while allowing just 26. It’s the second straight week the Panthers won by that same score. Strath Haven (8-1 overall, 7-1 Central League) is averaging 38.2 points per game.
Lower Merion quarterback Mekhai Smith kept the Aces in the game early. Jack Lledo’s five-yard TD run in the second quarter got Lower Merion within 14-6, but it was all Strath Haven after that.
The Panthers tallied three times in the second period to take a 35-6 lead into the locker room. After LM cut the deficit to eight, Matt Shuler scored on a five-yard run and then took a Sam Milligan pass 54 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 28-6. Chase Barlow added a seven-yard touchdown run to give the Panthers a 29-point cushion at the break.
Strath Haven had 271 total yards at halftime, according to Havenfootball. net, and Shuler had three TDs. He scored on a 53-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Smith was 12-for-18 for 176 yards at intermission.
Bob Fooskas closed out the scoring for Strath Haven with a seven-yard run with 8:03 to play in the third quarter. It was his second TD of the game. He opened the scoring with an eight-yard run in the first quarter.
The Panthers close out the regular season on the road next Friday night against Radnor at Conestoga High School. Strath Haven is ranked second in the District 1 Class 5A power rankings.
